Visitors Information

  • The Boyana Church has a ramp for wheelchairs and toilets.
  • Guide dogs are only allowed in the church courtyard.
  • Photography and filming with cameras or phones are prohibited.
  • Consuming food and drinks on the museum premises is prohibited.
  • All other dogs are prohibited.
  • Smoking and vaping are prohibited.
  • Drones are prohibited.

Visits to Boyana Church:

Due to the special access regulations required for the preservation of the invaluable frescoes of Boyana Church, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, all visitors must comply with the following rules:

  • A maximum of 9 visitors are allowed inside the church at the same time.
  • The duration of each visit in the medieval parts of the temple is limited to 10 minutes.

Visitor’s Information

  • Individual visitors and small groups of up to 5 people may visit the church with or without a prior reservation.
  • Organized groups (tour operators, travel agencies, schools, and other organized visits) are admitted only after a confirmed reservation via e-mail.

If the requested time of visit is available, you will receive our bank details to make your payment. For your reservation to be confirmed you need to send ASAP a copy of the transfer receipt.

Your proof of transfer serves as your ticket and must include the following information:

  • date of the visit;
  • time of the visit;
  • number and type of tickets;

Days and Hours When Reservations Are Not Available:

Reservations are not accepted on the days, and in the hours, when the Museum has announced free admission:

  • every last Monday of the month after 15:00;
  • 18 May – International Museum Day;
  •  17 September – Sofia Day;
  • 1 November – National Enlightenment Leaders’ Day.

Closed Days:

The Boyana Church museum is closed on:

  •  1 January;
  • Orthodox Easter (Sunday);
  • 24 December;
  • 25 December.
